Mercyhurst Preparatory School is located on East Grandview Boulevard, which is the southeastern boundary of the city of Erie. The site is bounded on the north by East 38th Street Boulevard and St. Luke parish complex and on the east and west by residential areas, including both single family homes and multi-unit apartment buildings. The grounds incorporate rolling hills, large flat open areas, and playing fields, including a baseball/football field to the immediate north of the high school athletic wing. From the rear of the school, the panorama includes the city stretching northward to Lake Erie.

Erie is the third largest city in Pennsylvania, the county seat of Erie County. It is located on the northwest corner of the state on a natural port of Lake Erie. The city is situated midway between New York and Chicago, within 120 miles of Cleveland, Ohio, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Buffalo, New York.

Our commitment to the arts and a strong academic program also reflects the needs and interests of the larger community, one which enjoys the intellectual influence of four colleges/universities -- Mercyhurst College, Gannon University, Penn State Behrend, and Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. With several art galleries, theaters, the Erie Art Museum (where some MPS students volunteer), and the well attended annual music and arts festivals, Erie is a community where interest in the arts continues to flourish.
