Our Community Instagram Page
Hello everyone! I wanted to share with you all about my personal experience starting an Instagram page from a spare phone used by my 4 year old daughter. Sounds funny, right? Let me explain. As someone who loves to stay updated on social media, I was afraid of getting addicted to it. I knew how easily one can get lost in the world of social handles and end up wasting precious time. So, when I got my hands on the latest iPhone 13 mini, my intention was to use it less and be more productive with my day-to-day chores. But then came the thought - why not start an Instagram page from my daughter's phone? This way, I won't have access to it all the time and can use it sparingly. And that's how it all began. The first thing I did after creating the page was informing my executive team members and a few teachers for their advice. However, everyone was busy, and I couldn't get any guidance. So, I kept the page private and started experimenting on my own. Slowly, the page started getting shared with a few people from our alumni community. And with time, the team managing the page changed based on availability. It's been almost 9 months now, and we are still running strong. Although I didn't get any suggestions or guidance from the school side, we did notice a few teachers following the page since the first month. We even allowed them to join in. We made sure to reach out to mutual contacts to review and confirm any new follow requests. In addition to that, we also tried to find some content creators from our alumni community who have a good amount of followers. The idea behind this was that in the future, the alumni of MPS might need them for collaboration, which would not only help in promoting the school in Balasore and nearby targeted areas. However, we noticed that all the Instagram digital creators for which we got the references belonged to a specific gender. This made us realize that we need to find some male digital creators as well with a good amount of followers. We are still on the lookout for them, and I'm sure we will find some in our alumni community. Apart from that, we also reached out to some photographers, content creators, and video editors from our community who can help us with promoting both school and alumni events in the future. It's amazing to see the talent and skills within our own community, and it's heartwarming to see them willing to support the school. I am grateful for this experience of starting an Instagram page from my spare phone kept for my daughter's occasional use. It has not only helped me stay away from social media addiction but has also given me an opportunity to connect and work with talented individuals from our alumni community. I am optimistic about the future of our Instagram page and the impact it will have on the school and our alumni. Stay tuned for more updates! Cheers to using our phones less and being more productive! Best regards, Bhabani Tripathy
